Report: NBA agent reveals what the future might hold for Kawhi Leonard this off-season. Will Kawhi join a different organization?

Kawhi Leonard’s chapter with the Los Angeles Clippers has been underwhelming and lacklustre. From blowing a 3-1 lead in the 2020 semi-conference finals against a young Denver Nuggets team to currently struggling in the first-round against essentially Luka Doncic, the Clippers have been extremely disappointing.

With little to no success by the Clippers since signing Kawhi Leonard, they currently face a situation they hoped never to experience. Kawhi Leonard is entering this off-season as an unrestricted free agent, which means that he can sign with any organization.

Considering how disappointing the Clippers have been, it’s more than likely that Kawhi Leonard will at least explore other options where he can win a championship. According to a report by Dan Feldman of NBC Sports, it was revealed that an anonymous NBA agent highlighted the possibility of Leonard forming a superteam in the Eastern Conference.

“Kawhi (Leonard) could very well listen to pitches from other teams. That is something that he is considering. If that does end up being the case, he would be intrigued at the possibility of joining the Miami Heat. Joining forces with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo is something that he would absolutely have interest in.”

Kawhi Leonard is one of the best players in the NBA today and would transform any team to at least a playoff contender. The underwhelming display of Clipper basketball is not Leonard’s fault entirely and instead is about team chemistry and players not stepping up to the table when needed most.

In the last post-season, Paul George received provocative nicknames and became a joke on the internet due to how inefficient his production was in the post-season. While George has improved dramatically this season, the chemistry of the Clippers has become stagnant. Sometimes, the Clippers show championship potential, and other times appear to be at best a first-round exit. That is not sustainable for any superstar in the NBA!

The idea of Kawhi joining the Miami Heat is a scary thought. Even though he wanted to live and represent Los Angeles while being close to family, Leonard’s legacy is at risk. Unless the Clippers can either make the finals or prove they are close to something special, Kawhi re-signing in Los Angeles would be unlikely, depending on his priorities.

The assumption for Kawhi Leonard is that he will re-sign with the Clippers despite their mediocracy. One of the main reasons Leonard left the Toronto Raptors was to stay close to family despite winning a championship. In NBA history, that rarely happens.
