Report: Cleveland Cavaliers Center Andre Drummond Has Drawn Interest From 8-10 Teams Including The Boston Celtics.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have sidelined Andre Drummond from suiting up for any games until they trade him. Even though Drummond never did anything wrong, the Cavaliers are headed in a different direction after trading for Jarrett Allen. Possessing two centers that play somewhat similar could be clustered, and it makes sense why the Cavaliers want to ship off Andre Drummond. However, many organizations around the NBA have reportedly expressed some interest in Andre Drummond. According to an article by Chris Fedor, there are at least 8-10 organizations interested in trading for Andre Drummond.

Even though 8-10 teams have reportedly expressed interest in the former two-time All-Star, the Boston Celtics have emerged as the top suitor for Drummond in the last 24 hours. While the Raptors had brief discussions with Cleveland, the Celtics, according to most sources, have appeared as the number one suitor for a successful trade.

With Boston having one of their worst starts to a season since 2018, general manager Danny Ainge needs to make some executive decisions to help fix their awful start. The Celtics currently have a record 14-14 while sitting as the fifth seed. Even though they are technically a playoff team, the Celtics would most likely be eliminated in the first round. A trade for Drummond would help the Celtics on defence, but it wouldn't be enough to fix their recent struggles.

Drummond does fit well at the starting center position. He can rebound, defend, score inside and is a big body that can defend some of the big titans in the Eastern Conference. However, a lack of a true jump-shot hinders him on the Celtics as every player is expected to have a three-point shot. This past summer, the Celtics signed Tristan Thompson to a two-year contract where most analysts and fans expected him to be the Celtics' primary center. Unfortunately, this has not been the case as Daniel Theis, the back-up center, has received more minutes due to his ability to shoot the ball. A trade for Drummond might be a waste of time for Boston due to him not fitting in with the offensive schemes. If Brad Stevens was not so obsessed about every player needing to shoot the ball from three-point range, a trade for Drummond would be ideal for this team.

The Boston Celtics are in a tough position and have regressed since last season. Losing Gordan Hayward in free agency was a much more significant loss than what Danny Ainge anticipated. From Hayward's defence to his underrated playmaking in Boston, the Celtics have clearly shown that Hayward was much more critical to their team's success than they realized. Despite that, having Marcus Smart out for a long time has also contributed to the Celtics poor production as he was the glue piece and number one defender on the Celtics. It is clear that without Smart, the Celtics are lost. This team is not desperate but is headed in that direction. A trade for Andre Drummond would not fix their teams struggle but would provide the Celtics with a bit more confidence. At the end of the day, Andre Drummond is an All-Star calibre player and would be the primary option to rebound the basketball. This means that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown could focus more on scoring and less on being inside to rebound or defend. The Celtics are undersized and need help as an actual center for them to be classified as valid contenders in the Eastern Conference due to how big the Eastern Conference is.

When looking at the top four teams in the Eastern Conference, three out of the four teams best player is a power forward or center. If the Celtics want to make a real impact in the playoffs, trading for Andre Drummond will help their chances.
